JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The NCAA released their women's soccer region rankings earlier today, with Carson-Newman women's soccer ranked 7th in the Southeast region.

The region rankings are determined by several metrics. Strength of schedule, in-region record, in-region RPI, in-region strength of schedule, and performance indicator.

The Southeast Region is made up of teams from the South Atlantic Conference, the Peach Belt Conference, and the Conference Carolinas.

Three SAC schools are ahead of C-N in the region rankings. Catawba is No. 2, with Lenoir-Rhyne and Limestone at 3 and 4, respectively. Simon Duffy's crew went 1-1-1 against those three teams this season.

Carson-Newman is 9-3-3 and has the same record in the region. C-N's performance indicator jumped up 0.2 from last week, up to 17.667, despite not playing a match since the last region breakdown.

The top team in the region is No. 3 Columbus State. It is 14-1-1 this season. Following the three SAC schools in the top five, is Flagler. The Saints are 10-3-2 overall and in the region.

North Georgia is No. 6 in the Southeast region, posting the same record as the Eagles this season.

Rounding out the Southeast region poll is Wingate, UNC Pembroke, and Anderson, in that order.

Six SAC schools are in the top ten of the Southeast region.

Among teams in the other seven regions, C-N has faced off against Cedarville and Nova Southeastern. Both of those teams are No. 2 in their respective regions. The Eagles fell to Cedarville in the season opener 2-0 and tied with Nova Southeastern at home 1-1.

Each Wednesday the NCAA will release region rankings. Only eight teams from the Southeast region will make the NCAA tournament. Five at-large bids and the three tournament champions from the SAC, PeachBelt and Conference Carolinas comprise the field.
