Winning streak on the line when Mars Hill comes to town

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- Carson-Newman women's soccer (5-2-2, 4-1) looks to continue its winning ways when it welcomes Mars Hill (3-3-1, 0-2) to Mossy Creek tomorrow evening.

The Eagles enter the matchup with the Lions on a four-game winning streak, the longest since the 2019 season. Three of the four wins have come against previously unbeaten teams (Limestone, Wingate and Coker).

C-N also has a home unbeaten streak that is up to nine games.

During this stretch, C-N has outscored its opponents 12-1. Simon Duffy's team ranks tied for second in the South Atlantic Conference, in goals scored (19), second in shots per game (19.2) and third in assists (13)

Leading the C-N attack is sophomore Nellie Bryneus. The Halmstad, Sweden native has scored four goals this season, two which have come in back-to-back games. Nine other Eagles have scored a goal this season, with four of those players having scored multiple goals. Freshman Selina Jud has scored three goals, while graduate student Sanne Martinsen, sophomore Sydnee Duncan and freshman Maja Bengtsson have each scored two.

Ten different Eagles have assisted on a goal this season. Senior Addie Henry leads C-N with three assists.

Goalkeeper Laura Germes has started eight games in goal, allowing just five goals and making 18 saves. She has been part of all four C-N's shutouts this season.

Under Duffy, the Eagles are 21-4-1 against the SAC at home and 2-0 this season.

C-N enters the match with 12 points in the SAC table, that is good for 2nd.

Mars Hill enters Wednesday's match winless in conference play. The two losses came to Lenoir-Rhyne (3-1) and Coker (1-0). The tie came against Tusculum (1-1)

The matchup with C-N will be Mars Hill's first SAC road game and only their second away game of the season. Mars Hill has lost 18 straight road matches. Its last road win came on Oct. 20, 2018 against Tusculum.

Senior Marianne Ross leads the Lions offense with three goals scored. Sophomore Carla Humera has a team-high two assists.

Sophomore goalkeeper Camryn Miller has made 40 saves which is 3rd in the SAC.

C-N has never lost to Mars Hill. Eagles lead the series 14-0-0.
