JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson Newman (1-1) put together a dominant performance to take down the Union Bulldogs (1-3), 6-1 at the Buddy Catlett Tennis Complex on Thursday afternoon.
"We really had to up our energy," head coach Jon Parker said. "They had some dominating matches out there. Our doubles were greatly improved since the last time we played… I'm really proud of the boys."
The Eagles took five of six points in singles, including a thrilling three-set win from Lars Hordijk. Marnix Van Dalen also bounced back, securing a win in the No. 1 slot. Paul Gayk dropped the only singles match of the day but put up an impressive fight after losing the first set and eventually pushed the match to three sets.

Despite dropping the doubles point in the season opener against North Georgia, the Eagles flipped the script, sweeping the Bulldogs in all three matches. Two of the three matches came within no more than two games, but C-N was able to come out on top.

With the win, the Eagles will look forward to their first road match of the year on Saturday, traveling to West Virginia to take on the University of Charleston.
