FAIRMONT, W. Va. – Carson-Newman (2-2) took two of three doubles matches to secure the decisive point, defeating Fairmont State (0-1), 4-3 on Sunday night.
The Eagles put forth a solid effort in singles as Marc Janse took his fourth win in as many tries, and Paul Gayk took a two-set win in No. 3 singles. Newcomer Matthew Saunders also contributed with a big win in No. 5 singles.

In doubles, the Eagles secured the all-important point in the match with wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The preseason All-SAC pairing of Marnix Van Dalen and Lars Hordijk got back in the win column, along with Marc Janse and Yehor Opanasenko in the No. 3 slot.
