Eagles Take On Fairmont State to Close Out Two Match Road Trip

FAIRMONT, W. Va. – Carson-Newman (1-2) looks to bounce back after a tough battle on Saturday, facing off with Fairmont State (0-0) on Sunday afternoon.

Kicking off their 2024 campaign on Sunday, the Falcons come into the season picked to finish 2nd in the Mountain East, right behind conference favorites University of Charleston, who C-N saw on Saturday.

The Falcons return a solid amount of talent, led by Elia Barozzi, who played No. 1 singles for Fairmont State a year ago after earning All-MEC honors in 2021-22 at the No. 2 singles spot. Returning to the No. 1 doubles spot are Alexandre Pages and Ken Watanabe, who both performed at a high level a year ago.

Marnix Van Dalen will take on Barozzi in the No. 1 singles spot, looking to secure a win on the road trip after dropping the contest on Saturday to a top-ten foe. Van Dalen and Lars Hordijk will attempt to take down the No. 1 duo in Pages and Watanabe for the Falcons.

It'll prove to be another tough test for the Eagles, looking to bounce back after a 4-1 loss to the undefeated Charleston Golden Eagles.
