Eagles Earn Multiple All-SAC Selections

VIDEO: Marc Janse Interview

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – With a plethora of top talent coming back, the Carson-Newman men's tennis team has earned multiple all-SAC preseason selections, as Marc Janse earns first-team singles honors, Gjorgii Jankulovski and Marnix Van Dalen both earn second-team singles selections and the pairing of Marnix Van Dalen and Lars Hordijk earn second-team doubles honors.

With his first-team selection, Janse credits the work he has put in over the years as a large contributing factor towards his success.

"It's an honor," Janse said. "I've been working really hard these past couple of years to maintain this spot, and I've given my best to earn this."

Over his career at C-N, Janse has posted an impressive 61-26 record, including a 16-5 tally last season and, most recently, a 4-2 record in the fall season. His success has played a big role in the team's success, as have those around him.

"I think we have a great group of guys," Janse said. "[Van Dalen and Hordijk] in doubles… they're unstoppable… Marnix and Gjorgii in singles are complete animals; they'll do anything to win…. They're   probably the best group of guys I've been a part of since I've been here, so hopefully, we can make some noise in the conference."

Gjorgii Jankulovski and Marnix Van Dalen earned second-team singles honors, as Jankulovski turned in an impressive 2023 season, leading the team in wins with 17 and dropping just five matches. Van Dalen also had a stout season, posting a 12-7 record. The two have combined for over 90 singles wins in their time at C-N.

Van Dalen also earned doubles honors, joining teammate Lars Hordijk on the doubles second-team. The duo has proved a weapon for C-N, posting a 12-3 mark last season and winning seven of their last ten contests.

With a talented group returning, the Eagles look to impress this year as they prepare for the non-conference slate starting on February 3rd against North Georgia.
