De Sousa awarded SAC Varsity Gems Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season
ROCK HILL, S.C.- Sade De Sousa was named Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the VMI Winter Classic this weekend.
ROCK HILL, S.C.- Sade De Sousa was named Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the VMI Winter Classic this weekend.
De Sousa, from Windholeck, Khonas, Namibia, is a junior sprinter for the Eagles. She placed first in the women's 60-meter dash in 7.44 seconds on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the VMI Winter Classic. De Sousa's performance resulted in a provisional qualifying time in the event.
"I didn't expect it, but I'm excited. I hope to have a good season, and my overall goal is to be an All-American," Carson-Newman track and field athlete Sade De Sousa said.
De Sousa and the rest of the Eagle crew will compete again on Feb. 9 at the JDL Team College Challenge in Winston-Salem, N.C. and Feb. 10 in Virginia Beach, Va. for DII Pre-Nationals after a break in the action this weekend. Make sure to stay up to date on cneagles.com.
