Continued success highlights the Eagles' busy weekend

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- Carson-Newman track and field ended the busy weekend with three more first-place finishes. 

The Eagles swept the high jump event during the final day of the Montreat College Challenge. Morgan Stanton won the women's high jump with a 1.60-meter mark, a new personal record in the event. Oluwafemi Richards won gold on the men's side of the event with a 2.02-meter performance, and teammate KJ Kemp took silver with 1.94 meter-mark.

In the men's triple jump event, Courtavious Garrett placed first with a 14.87-meter mark in the event. Brooke Taylor won bronze on the women's side of the event with a 10.72-meter performance.

Garrett also ran in the 100-meter dash, placing 10th in 10.91. Kadidja Sangare placed third in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 12.60. Sydney McCarty also ran in the event and placed seventh in 12.89. Brooke Taylor placed ninth with a time of 12.89 seconds.

Sangare went on to run in the 200-meter dash where she finished seventh in 26.66.

During the Lee Invitational, Jackson Bostick placed seventh in the men's 110-meter hurdles. He finished the race in 16.43 seconds.

KJ Laribo finished second in the men's 400-meter dash in 48.94. Taylor Dupler placed sixth in 50.91, and teammate Ethan Blaylock rounded out the top seven with a time of 50.99. On the women's side of the event, Tytiana Wilson snagged silver in 56.59. She beat the previous Lee Invitational record that sat at 57.80. Abbie Zander placed seventh in the event in 59.39, and Lauren Tabor placed 10th in 1:01.42.

In the women's 100-meter dash, Janaya Davis-Gainer placed sixth. She bested the previously held invitational record that was set at 12.01. Davis-Gainer also placed sixth and beat another Lee Invitational Record in the women's 200-meter dash in 24.91. Tshenelo Lemao finished ninth in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 22.33.

Madison Dockery placed 10th in the women's 5,000-meter run in 20:28.22. In the men's 5,000-meter fast heat, Colten Lee placed seventh in 15:14.70.

The Eagles will be back in action next weekend for the Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Six Carson-Newman track and field athletes qualified for the meet that begins Friday, Mar. 31 at 12:30 p.m.
