Charamba named SAC Men's Track Athlete of the Meet

ANDERSON, S.C.- Carson-Newman track and field's Makanakaishe Charamba was named Men's Track Athlete of the Meet for his performance at the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships last week. 

Charamba won gold in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash to take home Men's Track Athlete of the Meet honors at the conclusion of conference championships on Thursday, May 4. In the 100, Charamba placed first with a time of 10.28. Charamba took home another win in the 200-meter dash with a finals time of 20.44.

Charamba was the highest point-scoring men's track athlete of the entire meet. He contributed 20 points to the men's final score. Carson-Newman men's track and field finished fourth place in the meet with 99 points. 

The Eagles will be back in action this weekend at the Lee University Last Chance Meet on Saturday, May 13 in Cleveland, Tenn. Stay up to date on cneagles.com.
