GREENWOOD, Ind.- College Sports Communicators honored nine Carson-Newman track and field athletes in the 2023 CSC Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-District Teams.

The CSC Academic All-District Teams serve to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their successes in both academic and athletic pursuits. Carson-Newman track and field totaled nine Academic All-District picks as of Wednesday, May 31. 

For the men, Jackson Bostick, Logan Kirby, Trent Lovelace, and Ian Salyer all earned Academic All-District Distinction for the Eagles. 

Bostick is a sophomore sprinter and hurdler for the Eagles from Lenoir City, Tenn. Bostick studies Consumer Sciences, and he currently holds a 3.72 GPA. 

Kirby is senior from Andersonville, Tenn. who runs distance. He majors in Religion and has a 3.64 GPA. 

Lovelace is another sophomore for C-N. Lovelace is from Morristown, Tenn. and runs both distance and sprints for the Eagles. He plans to graduate with a degree in Physics and has earned a 3.66 GPA. 

Salyer is a sophomore thrower for the Eagles from Knoxville, Tenn. Salyer has a 3.94 GPA and is studying Exercise Science at C-N.

For the women, Morgan Bailey, Marlee Baker, Susan Nelson, Abby Owens, and Morgan Stanton all joined the Acadmic All-District Team. All five women are studying Exercise Science at Carson-Newman. 

Bailey is a junior from Mt. Juliet, Tenn. She competes in hurdles and sprint events for the Eagles. Bailey currently has a 4.0 GPA in her major.  

Baker is junior pole vaulter for C-N. She is also studying Exercise Science and holds a 3.97 GPA.

A junior jumper and hurdler, Nelson is from Crossville, Tenn. Similar to her teammates, Nelson has earned a perfect 4.0 GPA up to this point in her academic career.

Abby Owens is a pole vaulter for the Eagles from Ocala, Fla. Owens has a 4.0 in Exercise Science as well. 

From Coral Springs, Fla., Stanton is a sophomore jumper for the Eagles. Stanton has earned a 3.97 GPA during her time at C-N. 

Nine Eagles were honored on the CSC Academic All-District Teams this past Wednesday, May 31. The Eagles concluded the 2023 outdoor season at the end of the 2023 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
