Eagles end the busy weekend with new personal records

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- Carson-Newman track and field is headed home from the split weekend with a slew of new personal records. 

During the second day of the Tennessee Invite, Kadidja Sangare snagged seventh place in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Sangare ran the event in 14.70 seconds, but her 14.30-second preliminary time was a national qualifying mark for the Eagle in the event. Matthew Blackmon set a new personal record in the men's 110-meter hurdles event with his fourth-place finish in 14.38 seconds. Blackmon's prelim time of 14.36 marked another qualifying cut for the Eagles. 

The women's 4x100-meter relay team placed sixth in 47.91. The quartet consisted of Janaya Davis-Gainer, Tytiana Wilson, Kadidja Sangare, and Sade De Sousa

Davis-Gainer also placed 17th in the women's 100-meter dash in 12.56. On the men's side of the event, Dawson Jones finsihed seventh in 10.94 seconds. 

Tytiana Wilson competed in the women's 400-meter dash where she snagged 12th in 58.21. Lauren Tabor raced in the event as well and set a new personal record in 1:00.96. KJ Laribo raced in the men's 400-meter dash and finished 11th in 51.21. 

In the men's high jump, Shane Connell grabbed fourth place with a 1.95-meter mark. Oluwafemi Richards came in sixth with a 1.90-meter performance. Luke Smith represented the Eagles in the men's shot put where he placed 10th with a 14.06-meter mark. 

In the women's triple jump, Brooke Taylor set a new personal best of 11.19 meters. Her performance secured her 13th in the event. 

During the second day of the Flames Invitational, Sydney McCarty finished fourth in the women's long jump. McCarty recorded a 5.36-meter leap. Susan Nelson finished ninth with a 4.93-meter mark, and Brooke Visser rounded out the top 10 with a mark of 4.82 meters.
